Silly, Sleepy, Snow Days...

I LOVE snow days!! Not so much the snow, but the break that it provides. No school, no running here and running there... just snuggling on the couch and eating hot soup and drinking hot chocolate. It's the best! Since this first major blizzard arrived a few days before Halloween, it afforded us the time to do some Halloweenish things. The kids made "witches hats". This is the best Halloween treat because they can literally do it all by themselves (I just added the orange bows, but you could leave those off)...

We played games, watched movies and crashed on the couch...

The culminating event was playing in the snow with Dad! The kids waited all day, until Rob came home from work, to play in the snow with him, and he did not disappoint. They set to work building the worldest largest snow candy corn. It turned out awesome! Hopefully it won't melt before the trick-or-treaters come...

Sophie...

This was so hilarious! Sophie sat and watched Hayden draw on his magnadoodle forever, in awe of how he was making it disappear and reappear. When he finally finished, she picked up the pen and promptly sat down on top of the screen and tried to draw...

She got so frustrated when she couldn't figure out why she wasn't able to make the thing work like Hayden.

Thanks for the laugh Soph, you're so cute!

Flag Football, a winning season...

So, I have to blog about this just so that I can remember how stinkin cute Hayden was playing football and how proud I was of him. Hayden is one of those super sweet kids who takes a really long time to warm up to people and if he doesn't know you, he goes into statue mode. So that was Hayden for the first 3 games of flag football - a total statue. It was breaking my heart to watch him totally freeze up at one end of the field while all of the other kids are running down to the other end. Rob and I would offer him candy, ice cream... anything, if he would just pick up his feet and run with the crowd. FINALLY, one of his coaches realized that he was totally shy and really tried to help him along. It made all difference in the world and he totally came out of his shell. By the end of the season, he was playing quarterback and runningback, even chasing the ball carrier and trying to pull his flags off (a major milestone consedering where he started). We are so proud of you Hayden, you worked so hard to overcome your fears and not be shy. Wahoo for you!!

Candid Kids...

And this is what happens when your 4 year-old swipes your camera...

Sneaky little rascal.

Rock-tober comes to an end...

Our Rockies went to the playoffs again this year, and Rob and I had the chance to go to one of the two home games with our good friends the Marissa and Landon (thanks guys)!...

It was statistically the coldest playoff game in MLB history, but man, it was a blast! There's nothing like the post-season, everyone is into the game, the concessions are empty because no one wants to miss anything...

Too bad they lost the series 1-3. Oh well, there's always next year...

When the Cats are away...Oh how the Mice will play...

So it's been snowing for two days straight! We've had 2 feet of snow, no school and lots of family play time. Thus, I'm finally catching up on the blog.

So the big GNO went down in a flame of glory. A super success, and not to mention, loads of fun! (I'm feeling good about blogging this event because I seriously made every effort to invite anyone and everyone, so I'm expecting no hard feelings.) All the ladies met at my house; we piled food, bags and ourselves into 5 vehicles and headed for the hills, literally...

This is where we ended up. Sweet place, huh?...

Upon arrival, the craziness began with food, games and lots of laughing. Cards were played...

Secrets devulged (In a little game we like to call HOT seat)...

Spontaneous dancing occurred. (OK, it was mostly Sara dancing)...

And balancing acts performed...

As the hours grew later, the laughing got louder...

Especially when Marissa introduced all of us to the infamous "Poopy" game. I'm not sure, but I think that there may have been peeing of pants involved at this point...

As the early morning hours rolled in, we all rolled onto our beds and bags for a few short hours of sleep. After all was said and done, I think that everyone had a blast. And most of all, became closer friends. Isn't that what it's really all about?...

PS - I forgot to mention that the mastermind behind the lens was Marylin. Thanks again for taking all these awesome pictures!

Let the Spookiness Begin...

October 1st... time to bust out the Halloween decorations! You can't decorate without wearing the proper attire (remnants of Halloweens past)...

NO, NO... I don't like spooky houses...
The haunting of houses is a lengthy and specialized process...
Spooky success...
